Y5 Science

Year 5 have had a great time in science this week! They have been learning all about air resistance in their forces topic. Mrs Appleton and Mr Gill posed the scientific question: 'Does the size of a parachute affect the speed at which it travels?'. The children explored this by comparing two different sized parachutes. They made their parachutes in class and then tested these outside by dropping them from a height. They had to test this 3 times to ensure their test was fair and accurate. We found that the larger parachute fell slower than the smaller one. Challenge your children at home to explain why!
